WHY I DO THIS
I love running, and have learned lessons from it - about the world, myself, and the people around me - that I don’t think I could have learned anywhere else. Running has brought me lifelong friends, experiences I will never forget, and countless memories. It has brought me immense joy, and I consider it a celebration of life. I love sharing that with people and would love to share it with you.
MY COACHING PHILOSOPHY
Getting faster and fitter is a lot of fun, but the most important thing is always your health - both mental and physical. I want you uninjured and having fun with the sport. I know that improvement is not linear, and I will be there to push you and encourage you no matter what your journey looks like! As far as writing training plans, I can get quite technical or we can keep it very simple - whatever best suits you and your needs.
Coach-Athlete Relationship Philosophy: I know I’m not perfect. I’m still learning. If you ever have a problem with anything I do or write, or just want to do things differently - please just talk to me. I am always an open door and will never be offended if you have a different opinion. We can always have open discussion.

MY RUNNING STORY
My name is Michaela Reinhart, and I’ve been running since the 2nd grade when my parents put me on the team at my elementary school. We moved to another town in Kentucky and my new school didn’t have a cross country team – so my Dad started one for me and coached me through the 8th grade (very sweet, and he coached that same team for 17 years). I then ran for Lexington Catholic High School under two amazing coaches, where I learned the importance of recovery and fairly conservative training.
I went on to run for Duke University for 5 years, where I was able to be a part of the team that won Duke’s first Women’s Indoor and Outdoor Track + Field ACC Championships. I started out doing the DMR (distance medley relay), 3k, and 5k in my first few years of college, but by the end I was focusing on the longer stuff – 5k and 10k.
After college, I was injured for a long time but am back at it now! My current long-term goal is to break 33:00 in the 10k someday, but to enjoy the process along the way.
I coached an elementary cross-country team at Coleman Preparatory Academy (check this amazing school out here) in Louisville for the past year and a half (currently recruiting new volunteer coaches), wrote running plans for my friends who were interested in either starting up or getting faster, and continued to follow former teammates and competitors in their fantastic running careers.
My next goal: to share running with you!

ABOUT ME:
OUTSIDE OF RUNNING
Running has always been a huge part of my life, but it has never been everything. I am currently in medical school! I hope to be a family doctor someday, and in general love learning. I love spending time with family and friends, as well as planning surprises and birthday celebrations for people I love. I find lots of joy in little things like chocolate chip pumpkin bread, miniature dachshunds, apricot jam, and a nice sunset walk over the Big Four bridge.
